Scones
Quick scones. 12 mins bake.
Ingredients
- 225 gram flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/8 cup butter (cut into small cubes)
- 75 ml milk
- 75 ml water
Instructions
- Before starting the dough, preheat the oven to 400F.
- Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- Beat at medium-low speed (4) with a flat beater for 2 minutes, until it looks like coarse crumbs.
- Add milk and water.
- Beat at medium speed (6) with a flat beater until the mixture just forms a dough (about 10 seconds).
- Remove from bowl and place onto a well-floured surface.
- Knead lightly until soft and smooth.
- Form into a cirlce, 3cm thick.
- Cut into scones (using a cutter dipped in flour).
- Place scones on a greased or lined baking tray (touching each other, so that they are more inclined to rise updwards than sideways).
- Brush tops lightly with milk.
- Bake immediately for 12 minutes.
